The Week Ahead
The fifth ecumenical Lenten supper is tonight, March 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, starting at 5:45 pm. Sarah Wiles, pastor at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, will deliver the message in the service following the meal.
This Sunday is Palm Sunday. Linda will complete her sermon series on For the Sake of the World: The Great Ends of the Church with The Exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the World”as the theme on Sunday. The choir will sing “In the Shadow of the Palms.” The chiming choir will also play as part of the service of the Tenebrae, the extinguishing of a candle each week until Maundy Thursday. We will also celebrate communion. The Adult Forum Sunday School class will be led by Sue Bentley, who will talk about the time she and Ernie spent in Iran as members of the Peace Corps. Lucian's Bible Study class is nearing the end of its study of the book of John.

Omelette (and Waffle) Breakfast Following the Easter Sunrise service on April 5, we will have our traditional Make-Your-Own-Omelet Breakfast. Alex's waffles are also on the menu. We will start making and serving at 8:40 a.m. Please bring a dish to share, although that is not a requirement to attend. Suggestions for something to share include a breakfast side dish, fruit, bread, or muffins. Set-up and preparation will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Lots of help will be needed to move and set up tables in the Chapel, set places, and chop and sauté veggies. There will be a sign-up sheet near the Fellowship table on Sunday or you can sign up via a Google form. Contact Barbara Wierwille with any questions or offerings of help. |

"Just One Can" Food Drive
It is time for the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry "Just One Can" food drive. This is a town-wide effort to collect 30,000 cans to help ensure our neighbors have reliable access to nutritious food. As the number of families seeking assistance continues to grow, the pantry food-purchasing budget can no longer keep pace with demand. Reaching the goal of 30,000 cans would generate an estimated $50,000 in food value, the equivalent of four months of canned food purchases for the pantry.
One CAN truly makes a measurable difference. The goal is simple and achievable. If every resident of Blacksburg donated just one can, this would meet or exceed the target. This campaign is built on the idea that small, individual acts multiplied across a community create substantial impact.
The food drive runs from March 16 through March 31. There will be numerous drop-off points around town. You can also bring donations to Northside and they will be delivered to the Food Pantry.
