The Week Ahead
Today is Ash Wednesday, the start of the season of Lent leading up to Easter Sunday.
This Sunday is the First Sunday in Lent. Linda will have a sermon series on The Great Ends of The Church. Her first message is “For the Sake of the World: The Great Ends of the Church” The Proclamation of the Gospel for the Salvation of Humankind. The choir will perform “Amazing Grace.” The chiming choir will also play as we start our service of the Tenebrae, extinguishing a candle each week until Maundy Thursday. We will also celebrate communion.
Lucian will be teaching the adult Sunday School class. This Sunday, he will lead the class on on "Healthy Investing."

Volunteers Needed for March 11
Northside’s turn to host the service and provide the meal is on Wednesday, March 11. We will be offering a Potato Bar, as we did last year and expect to serve 75-80 people, based on attendance each week last year. The potatoes will be baked at the church in the afternoon while we prepare all the toppings.
Here is what is needed from volunteers: • About 14 dozen cookies, cupcakes, brownies, or any small dessert that can be easily picked up • Preparing the toppings for serving for 4 lines • Setting up the sanctuary for the meal, then a quick reset for the worship service • Cleanup afterwards. • Other needs and duties as needed
Contact Sue Bently by email (sueinpilot@gmail.com) or see her at church to let her know what tasks you are willing to do. We are a small congregation and we need everyone’s help!

Northside's Survivor Connection This is from Patty Devens with information about Lou Brown’s grandson Rick.
To answer inquisitive questions I'm getting from y'all, Yes. Our son "Rick Devens" is a contestant in the upcoming CBS show "Survivor 50". He was invited back after his appearance in "Survivor 38," where he did pretty well. In preparation for the upcoming season, CBS is already showing past Survivor episodes every night to familiarize show watchers with past contestant performances/highlights. The Survivor episode on February 17 focused on Rick, with a surprise visit from Becca, his wife. The new "Survivor 50" show will start February 25, on CBS at 8:00 PM for anyone who is interested. Rick assures us that the season should be good and that he didn't damage our name.
Those with access to streaming services should be able to track down the episode replay. |
