Congratulations

Congratulations to Olivia Narty and Clement Tetteh Kpakpah who will be married on August 23 in Richmond.

Sympathy

The sympathy and care of the congregation are extended to the family and friends of Martha Taylor. She died Monday evening (Aug. 18) after a long struggle with cancer, which did not dim her buoyant spirit. May she rest in God's eternal peace and light.

Eli Taylor was recently able to spend a week with his grandmother and was pleased to have that time.

There will be a memorial service at Northside in the near future.

If you wish to send a sympathy card or letter to Eli in care and support you may do so at the following address:

Food Pantry Needs

The Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry is a vital lifeline, offering nourishment and hope to families facing food insecurity. As the year closes, we urgently appeal for your generosity to help us continue and expand our essential services. Your support makes a profound difference in the lives of our neighbors. The attached flyer lists three critical initiatives needing your immediate support to ensure no one in Blacksburg goes without necessities.

Session Notes

The Session met after church on Sunday, August 17. Clark reviewed the financial statements, noting the status of several accounts. Alex presented the worship and study with a review of a chapter of "The Sailboat Church." Several committee reports were received and discussed. Clark presented the results from the work group tasked to review and make suggestions about hiring an administrative assistant. After a review of the draft job description and the current status of the position, the Session voted to hire Bruce into the position on a permanent basis. The members then shared joys and concerns to close the meeting.

Monday Night Supper

Monday's meal was two hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, fruit, and cookies. There were 100 meals served. Helpers were George and Marge, Barbara, Alex, Susan, and Heidi and Bruce.
